Married 1831
From the 1841 Census (HO107 Piece 484/18 Folio 25 Page 9) Sarah, 28, was with her husband William, 38, Labourer, in Plumstead, Kent, England. With them were their daughters Sarah, 4, and Susan, 2.
From the 1851 Census (HO107 Piece 1590 Folio 294 Page 8) Sarah, 38, was with her husband William, 48, Licensed Victualler, at the Red Lion Inn, Plumstead Road, Plumstead, Kent, England. With them were their children Charles, 9, Julia, 7, and Henry, 1. Sarah's widower father, William Williams, 77, born Berkshire, was also with them. It seems they had a pub full on Census night as also in the Inn were James Wright, 21, Ostler, born Essex, Emily Strutt, 15, Visitor, born Plumstead, Kent, England, Thomas Southon, 23, Visitor and Agricultural Labourer, born Middlesex, Thomas Montague, 25, Lodger and Agricultural Labourer, born Woolwich, Kent, England, William Johnstone, 39, Lodger and Agricultural Labourer, born Woolwich, Kent, England, Samuel Paton, 22, Lodger and Agricultural Labourer, born Essex, and widower John Milbourne, 50, Lodger and Bricklayer Journeyman, born Kent, England.
From the 1861 Census (RG9 Piece 410 Folio 113 Pages 16 and 17) there was a Sarah Weeks, 45, from Charlton, Kent, England married to a William Weeks, 55, from Eastbourne, Sussex who was trading as a Licensed Victualler in the Red Lion, Plumstead, Kent, England. With them were their sons Henry, 10, and William 3, both born in Plumstead, Kent, England. Also present was 23 year old unmarried niece Eleanor Williams from Woolwich, Kent, England. Eleanor must have been the daughter of Sarahs brother. The remainder of the household consisted of two unmarried servants George Lewis, 33, a Potman and Eliza Cook, 19, a House Servant, both from Plumstead, Kent, England.
From the 1871 Census (RG10 Piece 794 Folio 68 Page 42) Sarah, 56, was the Licensed Victualler running the Red Lion at St. Nicholas, Greenwich, Plumstead, Kent, England. With her were three of her unmarried children Charles, 29, a Commercial Clerk, Henry, 20, a Commercial Clerk, and Ann E, 18. Sarah also had two of her grand-children at the pub - Alice M Bull, 9, and W(illia)m J Bull, 7, both from Crayford, Kent, England - Susans children. There was also a Domestic Servant working for her by the name of Emily K Drew, 19, from London.
From the 1881 Census (RG11 Piece 751 Folio 18 Page 30) Sarah, 66, is now a widow and has given up the pub trade. She now has an income from House properties etc. With her is her unmarried daughter Anne, 27.
